5 Tips For Staying Junk Free

It seems that everyone is running around keeping busy nowadays, so it can be difficult to make sure you keep your home and yard free of junk and clutter. With such busy schedules, it’s a good idea to cultivate a few good habits that will help you keep things clean, neat, and organized.

If you can dedicate one or two hours per month to work on reducing the junk and clutter from your living space, you’ll soon find that you save quite a substantial amount of time in the long run. Take a look at these 5 tips for staying junk free:

1. Recycle Loose Paper

Are you one of the many people who go through a large amount of printer paper throughout the course of the year?  Do you have a home office that seems to always be bogged down with extra paperwork waiting to be recycled?

It’s a good idea to get a separate recycling bin and go through any papers at the end of each week to make sure you’re getting rid of any printed materials you don’t need.

2. Break Down and Eliminate Boxes

If you receive a lot of packages from home or office deliveries, chances are you have a bunch of old cardboard boxes just lying around. Take the time to break down these boxes and recycle them at the end of each week.

Try to only keep recyclable boxes if you are planning on packing up for a move in the immediate future, or if you know you’ll be planning to send gifts throughout the mail during the holiday season.

3. Donate Old Clothes

Closets can easily become completely full of old items that you plan to deal with later, yet never seem to get to.  This makes it hard to keep your clothes organized, plus it’s just as tricky to get newer, better-fitting items into the taken space.

The good news is that it’s especially easy to get rid of old clothing. The Junk Removers will happily take all donatable items to the appropriate charities within your community so that your old duds can be worn by those who need them most.

4. Keep Things Clean

When you keep household surfaces clean and dusted, you’ll be less inclined to tolerate clutter in your home.  Clean surfaces seem to motivate you to get rid of junk before it gets out of hand!

If you feel like you just can’t get around to tackling your junk, start slow with light cleaning instead.  Chances are, you’ll find yourself so excited by the small changes that you’ll feel inspired to do even more.
